About Tewtiw

Legal Name: Tewtiw

Hi there! Welcome to Tewtiw.

We are a small leather goods brand based in Fes, a city where leather craftsmanship has shaped daily life for centuries. In our streets, workshops, and neighborhoods, leather is more than a material — it is part of our identity.
At Tewtiw, we collaborate with local artisans who practice traditional leatherworking techniques learned through family workshops and apprenticeships. Many of them grew up watching fathers, uncles, and neighbors cut, stitch, dye, and shape leather by hand. Those early lessons in patience and precision continue in every bag we offer.
Our Story
The name “Tewtiw” comes from a small street in our neighborhood where the idea for this brand first began.
It started simply — with conversations about preserving traditional leather craftsmanship while creating practical bags for everyday life. We wanted to build something rooted in our community, something honest and respectful of the artisans we work with.
Our workshop was founded in 2016 with a shared dream, led by Imad Bergaouy, the founder of Tewtiw. Imad has dedicated his work to supporting local leather artisans in our community, preserving traditional craftsmanship, and helping artisans refine and develop their skills.
Today, with two workshops and a team of over 22 artisans, Tewtiw continues under his guidance, providing meaningful work and opportunities within the region.
Leather craftsmanship in Fes has been practiced for centuries. Generations of artisans have passed down their knowledge, techniques, and respect for the craft through family workshops and apprenticeships. Each leather bag reflects this heritage — from traditional construction methods to details inspired by everyday life and local culture.
Every piece carries the experience and skill of the artisans who made it.

How We Make Our Bags

Creating a leather bag is a careful, step-by-step process. Here is how our products come to life:
Leather Selection:
We use goat, sheep, cow, or lamb leather sourced as a byproduct of the food industry. The leather is selected for durability and suitability for bag-making.
Preparation and Cutting:
Each piece of leather is measured and hand-cut according to the design.
Hand Stitching:
Artisans stitch and assemble the pieces manually, ensuring strength and structure.
Finishing:
Edges are polished, surfaces are conditioned, and every bag is inspected before it leaves the workshop.
Because each bag is handcrafted, natural variations in color, grain, and stitching may occur. These differences are part of traditional leatherwork and make every piece unique.

What We Make

Our collections reflect practical design and traditional craftsmanship:

Each piece is produced in small batches, allowing artisans to focus on quality rather than quantity.
